The Ladies run a very friendly yet competitive section with a wide range of handicaps. Competitions are played on almost every Tuesday throughout the year, with a variety of 18 hole Medals, Trophies and Fun Competitions. There is also a strong 9 hole membership.
The section supports teams covering all abilities: the A and B team compete in the York Ladies’ County Golf Association Interclub Team Championship. Each team plays in three home, and three away matches. Members also have a chance to play at other clubs in competitions within the York Union, Veteran Association, East Yorkshire Winter Alliance and the York Union Winter Alliance as well as on club exchange days.
New members are very welcome and will be encouraged to mix in with both the golf and social events. The ladies run a ‘Friendly Round of Golf’ (FROGS) group to familiarise them with on-course etiquette and the playing of the game, as well as introducing them to other players. Through a specific membership category, beginners are encouraged, and helped to gain an official handicap.
