1: Out of Bounds:
a) Beyond any fence, hedge, or area defined by white posts
b) On or over the artificially surfaced areas surrounding the clubhouse, including all buildings and flowerbeds.
2: Animal Damage:
Relief for interference by Animal Holes may be taken under Rule 16.1.
In addition, when a ball is in the General Area, other damage to the course clearly caused by animals but not marked as such, is GUR from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b.
Exception: Interference does not exist if only the stance is affected.
3: Penalty Areas:
a) Red stakes and/or lines define penalty areas. Where both lines and stakes are present, the stakes identify, and the lines define the penalty area.
b) If it is known or virtually certain that a ball is in the red penalty area at the back of the 5th green, for one penalty stroke the player may take relief under Rule 17.1, or as an extra option, for one penalty stroke may drop a ball in the dropping zone closest to where the original ball is, or if not found, is estimated to be. The dropping zones are relief areas under Rule 14.3. Note: The penalty area extends to and coincides with the Out of Bounds edge.
4: Electric Fence:
If a player's ball lies in bounds between the electric fence and the boundary, or lies on the course within one club-length of the electric fence, they may, without penalty, take relief under Rule 16.1, using as the reference point the point that is two club-lengths from the fence and the same distance as the ball from the hole.
5: Practice Putting Greens and Temporary Greens:
The Practice Putting green adjacent to the clubhouse, the green adjacent to the 10th Fairway and the 11th tee, and areas in the General Area prepared for use as temporary greens are wrong greens even when not in use, and relief for interference must be taken under Rule 13.1f
6: Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Greens:
Relief from interference by an Immovable Obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1. In addition, when a ball is in the General Area, if an immovable obstruction is on the line of play, and is within two club-lengths of, or on the putting green, and within two club-lengths of the ball. the player may take relief under Rule 16.1b.
Exception: There is no relief if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
7: Protection of Young Trees:
Young trees identified by Yellow bands or protected by sheaths are No Play zones. If a player's ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player's stance or area of intended swing, the player MUST take relief under Rule 16.1f.
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Local Rules 2 to 7:
- General Penalty Under Rule 14.7a
8: Overhead Wires:
If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit an overhead wire, the stroke does not count. The player MUST play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made under Rule 14.6.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule 8:
- General Penalty, but the player has not played from a wrong place.
9: Practice on a Day of Competition:
The practice green adjacent to the clubhouse may be used for practice putting, but chipping balls to this green is not allowed at any time. Practice chipping and putting to the spare green adjacent to the 10th fairway and 11th tee is allowed within the area defined by blue posts, when the hole is not in use for the competition.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule 9:
- First Breach: General Penalty applied to player’s first hole
- Second Breach: Disqualification
NOTE - General Penalty: Loss of hole in match play or two penalty strokes in stroke play.

WINTER RULES (NOT APPLICABLE FROM 1ST MAY)
Preferred Lies:
When a player's ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:
* Reference Point: Spot of the original ball.
* Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: 6 inches, but with these limits:
Limits on Location of Relief Area
- Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
- Must be in the general area.
In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Local Rule:
- General Penalty Under Rule 14.7a.
Cleaning Ball:
When a player's ball lies in the General Area, the ball may be lifted cleaned and replaced without penalty. The player must mark the spot before lifting the ball (see Rule 14.1) and the ball must be replaced on its original spot (see Rule 14.2). (Note: this means that the ball may be cleaned anywhere on the course except in bunkers and penalty areas., as long as the ball is REPLACED on its original spot)
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Local Rule:
- General Penalty Under Rule 14.7a.
Aeration Holes/Slits:
If a player's ball lies in or touches an aeration hole or slit:
(a) Ball in General Area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b. If the ball comes to rest in another aeration hole the player may take relief again under this Local Rule.
(b) Ball on Putting Green. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1d.
But interference does not exist if the aeration hole only interferes with the player's stance or, on the putting green, on the player's line of play.

TEMPORARY LOCAL RULE WHEN REQUIRED
Water Damage:
Areas in bunkers where sand has been removed by the movement of water resulting in deep furrows through the sand are GUR. If the ball lies in, or the swing is affected by such areas, relief may be taken under Rule 16.1c
Exception: Interference does not exist if only the stance is affected.
