Covering the entire handicap range from scratch to 54, sub-sections include 'Rabbits' (handicap index 14.5 to 54.0 inclusive), 'Inters' (handicap index of 7.0 to 14.4 inclusive) and Seniors (aged 55+; any handicap index). A Scratch Team enables low handicap golfers to compete against other local clubs.
Several friendly matches throughout the year against local clubs are a great way of meeting other members and, for away matches, playing other courses. Members are also encouraged to sign up for Captain’s Exchange Days and any Club Social Events. However, please note that an official playing handicap is usually required for the aforementioned.
We hope new members can integrate swiftly, and to aid introduction of new participants, larger social groups play regularly. If assistance to integrate is required, then please ask the Manager, Pro, Captain, or any Board member.
The Club provides a full calendar of Medal and Stableford competitions, available to members throughout the year, with qualifying competitions played from April to October. Competitions are split between three divisional handicap categories, with trophies, sweep prize money, and a 2's club. Most weekends in the summer season, members will be playing for trophies. Each Wednesday during summer, members can also sign up for a Club Stableford competition. A variety of summer and winter knockout competitions are also held. In addition, the Club is a member of the York Union of Golf Clubs and East Riding Alliance. During the winter months, inter-club competition for both these affiliations are usually well-supported.
