Ladies Spring Open - FRIDAY MAY 26th 2017 Wall to wall sunshine was the order of the day as 120 ladies played in the Spring Open AM-AM Stableford. Winning team on the day was Lynda Ireland, Val Exley, Jane Cranston-Young and Jean Shkurkl from Shipley with a score of 89. Second was Wendy Lockwood, Nicky Salzl, Caroline Barker and Tracey Worsnop from Hornsea with 85 and Wendy also won the Nearest Pin on 5th Third was Sue Mayman, Pam Rawlin, Sally Hunt and Pat Richardson from Bedale with 83 Fourth was Dorothy Hill, Joan Sanderson, Jackie Geldert and Marilyn Dawson a mixed team from Thirsk and Bedale with 82. The Nearest Pin on 10th in 2 was won by Maureen Williams from West Bradford and there were 5 two's on the day Patricia Knox, Jean Shurkl, Wendy Lockwood, Tracey Worsnop and Barbara Gregory. The organisers congratulate all winners and all the ladies who took part on the day, true to say a good time was had by all if a little too warm for some and they look forward to seeing many of the ladies again next year.
Seniors Spring Open took place on WEDNESDAY JUNE 7th 2017 - After a sleepless night for the organisers listening to the rain lashing down the day started dry, if not too bright but certainly breezy but the sun duly appeared and 158 Seniors took part in this popular four ball better ball stableford competition. Many return year on year and the Club appreciates their loyalty. Many complimentary remarks were made about the condition of the course and the hard work put in by the green staff. Winners were Roland Guest and Mike Dennett from Elsham with 45 points, Second was James Watson from Matlock and his partner Christopher Church from Beamish Park with 44 and B9-24 Third was John Halloran and Gordon Baines from Low Laithes with 44 B9-23. Fourth was Brian Simpson and Paul Baillie from Boothferry 44 but B9-21 Fifth was Neil Errington and Ian Richards from Eaglescliffe with 43 Nearest Pin on 5th was John Harland from Brass Castle distance 8'11" Nearest Pin in 2 on 10th was Alan Christison from Teesside with 5'9" Nearest Pin in 3 on the 18th was Des Murray from Teesside with 10" and the Longest Drive was produced on the 9th by Chris Day from Scarcroft The Club thanks everyone for taking part in the competition and those helping in lots of different ways to make the day run smoothly and we look forward to next year on Wednesday 6th June 2018 to seeing all those who have booked a tee time.
